How Brooke Waters Found Freedom Through Music

Brooke Waters’ inclination to music has been evident even at such a young age. Her mom has inspired her to listen to old gospel and spiritual songs while her dad opened the way for her to different genres and modern music. Brooke has been part of the Kid’s Choir at her local church at age 7 and has been writing her own songs since she was 10. This allowed her to pave the way in making her own style of music and eventually, became the one constant thing that made her feel free.

The Shift on Her Music

Being born and raised in San Francisco, California, Brooke didn’t really have any formal training in sharpening her musical gifts. She might be participating in little talent shows but her family didn’t have the resources to be able to give her the help that she needs to pursue her aspirations. Everything changed when her family moved to Texas. Brooke In her sophomore year, had the opportunity to get vocal lessons through her first voice teacher, Mrs. Feledichuk at Plano Senior High School. This really turned things around for her.

With the guidance of her teacher, she made it into the school’s top choirs and participated in classical singing competitions. and even succeeded in her application for a college admission to study music. Brooke described her experience as “All of it was new and definitely a challenge, but I grew the most as a musician in Texas. I was exposed to a whole new world of how to create music, and how really, all genres connect.” During her sophomore year in college, she was able to get into a recording studio setting and started shaping out her musical sound and finding her voice in the industry.

The Uniqueness of Her Music

Brooke’s inspirations are Beyonce and Alicia Keys. She remembers spending hours and hours watching music videos and documentaries of them on the internet. She really admired how dedicated they are in creating music and how their songs display the emotion that connects to the listeners. Even though they are her inspiration, Brooke has been leaning to Neo-Soul kind of music that is very authentic and has an underground sound. You can clearly feel her down-to-earth character and the care she puts into the lyrics that are expressive and thought-provoking.

Her latest song “How High” is a testament to her unique sound and story-telling that she was able to create. She made the song together with her friend Napps. It revolves around the message of dismissing expectations of people and just really living the life you’ve always wanted. The single can be streamed in all platforms and it is part of a larger work that will be released soon. It is a beautiful and exciting glimpse of her very first album that she’s been working on.

A Young Artist full of potential

Brooke might be young but her musical experience has started from a very young age. When asked about the lessons she learned in her music journey, she said: “The one key thing I’ve learned in creating music and experiencing life is that it’s too short not to enjoy every moment. To sit and remember every moment in life and to relish each second. Appreciate the good to the fullest, and learn from the bad.”

She also wants to be perceived as someone who connects with her fans through the songs she is producing. To be an artist that can help them get through with the hard things in life and to remind them to keep pushing for the bigger things in life. She wants to always give her fans an authentic and heartfelt experience and to inspire them to be comfortable with every flaw and emotion they have because that’s what makes us human. Be someone that appreciates the good to the fullest and learns from the bad.
