Say it with Music: The story of Artist Edwrds

It’s very normal for people to pursue a successful life. While the definition of success varies from one person to another, most people define it as being financially well off. For artist Edwrds, success can be defined as pursuing your passion while enriching the lives of others. Born in Port Jefferson, New York, Jake Edward Lee most commonly known as Edwrds is emerging in the music scene as an artist that inspires the people. 

A deep connection to music

Jake Edward Lee’s love of music began since he was a kid. Growing up as a competitive dancer music became his companion and the delight of his everyday life. He knew from the start how powerful music can be and it is the passion that his heart will pursue. While he started as a dancer, he saw himself slowly exploring the art of music production in his high school days. Thru hard work and practice, Edwrds unique sound and craft grew exponentially and he knew he was on the right track.

“Growing up as a competitive dancer developed my love for music and the urge to be the one who created the tunes people danced to. I’ve always loved creating art and music happened to be where I found my passion.” 

Nearly half a decade of releases and craft refinement later, Edwrds began to finally experience the fruits of his labor. In 2020, Edwrds led with his first major release: an album titled Loverboy, which included his then-breakout single, “Ferris Wheel,” which garnered over 70,000 streams upon its weekly debut. As Edwrd’s foundation continued to grow roots in the following year, he embarked on the national “Boys of Summer” tour with show dates in New Orleans, Dallas, Houston, and Orlando. 

A deep connection to fans

Edwrds is not your typical artist in the industry whose sole agenda is to get the bag. His name might have come from the word prosperity, Edwrds love for art and for people allows him to bring a different kind of prosperity to people who listen to him. Inspired by Mac Miller, Juice Wrld, Jaden Smith, and Jeremy Zucker, this artist aspires to be authentic in bringing a one-of-a-kind experience to his audience. Such feeling can only happen if he pours his heart into every song he makes and incorporates stories that are relatable to people and that’s exactly what he does. 

“My music is like a diary full of my various emotions. It’s important to me I explore all the highs and lows to show whoever listens that the human experience is an amazing thing.”

This way of producing music is what will make Edwrds a household name in the future. His most recent EP entitled “Whatever Happens” is a compilation of songs that he carefully knitted together throughout the pandemic. These trying times have made him a better producer, writer, and human. He had a lot of reservations going on in his mind with the way things have been happening and this EP is a reminder to always take a leap of faith. With that being said, Edwrds’ very aim in becoming an artist is to be someone that encourages and connects with people. He knew how powerful music is and when used right, it can make a great impact in the world.  He wants to be perceived by his fans as,

“I really just want people to remember me for being an authentic artist with a big heart. My message to the fans is to spread light and love where you can. The smallest thing can really make the biggest impact in someone’s day.”

Edwrds’ journey as an artist can be considered young when compared to other artists in the industry but his authenticity and maturity as a human, not just as a musician, is something that will take him to higher places.
